At Witney RAF Air Cadets, cadet life is all about challenge, excitement and adventure. From UK and overseas camps to leadership courses, air experience flights and even pilot training, there are endless opportunities to push your limits and discover what you’re capable of.

ADULT VOLUNTEERS
Our adult volunteers are the driving force behind everything we do. They give their time, energy and experience to create opportunities that inspire and challenge our cadets — whether that’s planning adventurous activities, delivering training, or supporting the day-to-day running of the squadron.
Being part of 2120 isn’t just about helping young people succeed; it’s also about personal growth. Our volunteers gain valuable leadership experience, develop new skills, and become part of a supportive team that makes a real difference in the Witney community.

Minimum Age: You can join at 12 years old, provided you are already in School Year 8. Otherwise, you must wait until your 13th birthday.
Maximum Joining Age: You must join before your 17th birthday.
Upper Limit: Existing cadets can stay on until their 20th birthday.

At 2120 Witney Squadron, we have regular Tuesday and Friday evening sessions 7-9.30pm. These are referred to as parade nights because each session traditionally begins and ends with a formal parade, roll call, and uniform inspection.

Squadron subscriptions is currently £15 per month to help cover local transport and equipment. Core activities like flying, gliding, and shooting are funded centrally. Extra costs only apply to voluntary overnight camps or special events, which are heavily subsidised.

No. While funded by the Royal Air Force, the RAF Air Cadets is a youth organization, not a military recruitment service. There is zero obligation to enlist, though the training is highly valued by both civilian and military employers

The formal blue RAF uniform is provided free on loan for the duration of a cadet's time with the squadron. Members only need to supply their own parade shoes and terrain-appropriate boots for green/camouflage field exercises.

Members participate in flying, gliding, target shooting, adventure training, sports, camps and first aid qualification courses. Cadets can also earn leadership awards and work toward their Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE).

Minimum Age: You can apply to join as an adult staff member or Civilian Instructor (CI) starting from your 20th birthday.
Upper Limit: There is no upper age limit for Civilian Instructors, though uniformed staff typically serve up to age 65
